Our shop (Bluesurf Internet Cafe) is right on the Mooloolaba Esplanade, in Mooloolaba about 100km north of Brisbane on the Sunshine Coast

We opened April 2006 and have 12 computers and are getting a fair amount of business from travelers staying in the many resorts here who want to keep in contact via email etc with their friends and family.

We open 7 days a week from 7am each day until 7pm each day and we take it in turns to have a sleep in, every second day, so its been working out great.  Our internet café is inside a small arcade in the Pacific Beach Resort complex on the main Mooloolaba Esplanade. 

Most of the resort’s guests use our internet facilities to contact their friends and relatives

The esplanade is about 1km long has a lot of Alfresco type restaurants and coffee shops spread along the way.  Sometimes the footpath is quite crowed with tourists walking to the boutique dress shops.

Mooloolaba beach is very popular with the tourists.  This area is known as the Sunshine Coast, its about 100km north of Brisbane and many people from the southern states drive or fly north for the winter sunshine.

The weather is very similar to Geraldton boasting many hours of sunshine per day. 

The main regular tourist season starts in June each year but Jan/Feb and March are our busiest months with more tourists from other parts of Qld and NSW visiting the area.

In July 2007, we put in two rows of DVD shelves in the centre of our shop and now buy new and ex rental DVDs and hire them out to locals and tourists for $6 for new releases and $4 and $2 for older movies.  We have a collection of over 1000 movies now and around 100 children’s favourite movies.

The movie rentals have become popular especially with the tourists staying in the local resorts as the VideoEzy and Blockbuster won’t hire their DVDs to them, so we are cashing in on that market.  And it goes hand in hand with internet use as they come to check email, see the DVDs and hire a movie for the night. 

Below is the luxury First Avenue apartment we lived in for 14 months but sadly had to move out on 1 December
as the owner moved back into apartment – its been very convenient as the apartment is just across road from our shop!

In December 2007 we moved to a new rental apartment in Bradman Avenue, Maroochydore.
