The One Mile Jetty is renowned for Mulloway, Tailor, Mackerel, Trevally, Bream all year and Blue Manna Crabs between March and July. The Ocean Tramway will enable you to ride the length of the jetty and view marine life and the mouth of the Gascoyne River. The jetty was built in 1897, and widened in 1912, and was the first port in Australia, and probably the world, where live stock was transported regularly on a commercial basis by sea. State ships stopped using the jetty in 1966. The first locomotive to be run along the jetty was the Kia Ora in 1909.
