Step One |
Preparing Sections: Take the 16 A4 pages and cut each sheet in half crosswise so that you have 32 pages 210mmwide by 149mm. Fold each cut page in half so that is now measures 105mm x 149mm. Stack these into groups of 4 (one section). |

Step Two |
Determining the Spine Width: Stack the 8 sections on top of each other with the folds towards you. While you lightly depress the stack with your hand measure the height of the stack. It will range between 12 - 15mm. |

| Step Three | Marking out the Cover: The cover wraps around the spine in one piece. The width of the cover will be 108mm plus the height of the stack plus 108mm. The extra 3mm allows the cover to protrude past the front edge of the pages. The height of the cover will be 149mm. (Do not allow extra at the top and bottom. If you do and the finished book is stood upright, the soft cover of the book will bend and the pages droop down.) Mark out the measurements on the light card. |

| Use a blunt tool such as a bread and butter knife to score the two lines that mark the spine. Fold along the scored lines. |
